A New Beginning

Hi everyone.... I know, it's been a while :) I've had a little break and now it's time to get back to scrapping.

The doors have been closed at Scrap That Idea (so sad) but never fear... I'm now selling at My Memories.

I currently have two kits in store. Both "In Bloom" and "Sassy Owl" were previously mini kits. I have now expanded both of them to full size kits.

I've been working on some new stuff too.... I am in the process of getting this one into the store (and there will be a freebie to go with it so stay tuned).

Happy Easter everyone! Are you all having a nice long weekend?

We've been away camping on my Uncle's sheep farm. Each night we built a campfire and toasted marshmallows and hot cross buns.... yummy!

I also have a set of "Scalloped Shapes" in store for only $1. They are an easy way to dress up any layout. Just place the scallop shape down first then the mat on top. Clip a couple of papers to them and you're done!

Where does the time go? We had a super busy weekend camping and unfortunately, I've been sick since we've come home... so I never got around to showing you the templates I have in store. These are good for layouts showing lots of photos from the entire year or simply use them to do every day layouts (just get rid of the 2010 title).

Can you believe it? Our week is over already. I am writing my last blog post from England... in a few hours we will be in Holland.

We have had an awesome week of sightseeing and friendly hospitality. If you come to England I can definitely recommend Hotel Vicki & Rob... we have well and truly been looked after!

Vicki & I managed to sneak in one girl's night out.... for cocktails while watching the Eclipse movie... are you jealous? Here we are all ready to go out:

Hello from sunny (ahem, slightly sunny) UK! Yep, I'm sitting in Vicki's house in England writing this post. We've been here for two days and have been blown away by Vicki and her husband's hospitality. The first day was spent meeting some of their friends and watching the World Cup final and today we had the most AMAZING day visitng some castles in Wales. Check out the photos below... the first is Raglan Castle... AMAZING... and the second photo is of Vicki and the rest of my clan heading up to Chepstow Castle...

In case you haven't noticed... the World Cup has started! It's so exciting. I can't say I am a HUGE soccer fan but I will follow just about any sport at World Cup level! Anyhow, Australia has our first game tomorrow at 2am in the morning (my time)... but I have been ill all weekend so staying up to watch it isn't really an option... I have no doubt that it will be shown again (and again) the next day anyway...

We have an exciting promotion happening at Scrap That Idea. As some of you will know, the Soccer World Cup kicks off on 11th June in South Africa. There are 32 countries taking part including each of the home countries of our four designers - South Africa, England, USA and Australia. We thought it would be great fun to run a promo in line with the tournament and get everyone involved with a chance to win gift certificates, discounts to the store and a participation freebie!

Wanna know how to take part? We have opened a section of our CT forum to everyone so that we can all keep track of what's happening with the promo and chat woth you about any questions you have for the designers in the store or the creative teams. This forum will be active for the duration of the promo (until July 11th) and if it's popular and well used, we may consider extending that! You need to go to the forum here and register for access and once accepted, go here to register for the promo itself BEFORE the end of the day on 9th June (2 days before the tournament begins). You will need to wait for activation of your account before you can register for the promo - this is being done manually to make sure we don't get spammers, so please bear with us if you have to wait a few hours ;)

All the details of the promo are included in the forum - it explains the prize, it will be where you get your freebie mini kit designed by Vicki for particiapetion and where you can ask questions of the designers and creative teams.

I have just had another insanely busy weekend... we had a long weekend to honour our ANZACs who went to war (Australia & New Zealand Army Corps), so, we went camping with some friends. We had an absolutley fantastic time... until I got home to discover the power had tripped out sometime over the weekend... my fridge & freezer were at room temperature and I had to throw out everything in them... it was a horrible way to end such a great weekend :(

Anyhow, enough of the excuses about why I never posted over the weekend. Here's my new kit called "Blue Denim". This has actually turned out to be one of my faves.... especially since it's so good for either boy or girl layouts.

It's in the store now... but I'll tell you a little secret... if you wait until Saturday we are having a 50% sale for National Scrapbook Day (see my post below).

Cafe Rose Cluster Frame

Camping - we survived!

Yep, we made it through our very first camping expedition. I must admit, as you can see from the photos below it was pretty easy camping... we stayed at a resort park that had a pool, a water playground, a playground AND a bouncy cushion... it was awesome! The kids loved it, of course, and Megan threw a little tantrum because she didn't want to leave!

This is a look at our fab new tent...it has three rooms inside plus the annex off the front... VERY cool!
This is the water playground... all these statues squirted water in some way and there were also jets in the floor spraying water in all sorts of ways.

Thanks for all the comments about my first couple of altered pics! I don't think they're going to win any awards or anything but I do enjoy tinkering with them...

I noticed there were a few questions about the magazine I have been looking at. It's called Advanced Photoshop and I have bought the Premium Collection - Volume 4... which is a collection of all the tutorials the magazine has published over the recent past.

2009 - What A Hoot Freebie QP

It's summer!

OK... I promised more blog posts so here goes. This blog post, however, is probably going to make me more unpopular though! Vicki and Stacey keep sending me photos showing them completely snowed in... so I thought I would show you how we live in the land down under. (I am expecting rude comments from them telling me off for bragging!).

Anyhow, this summer we decided to put in a pool. Since the kids are still fairly young we have only put in a 3ft deep one though... so both kids can still stand in there. So far, so good - they love it.

Yes, we have put more water in than this... Aiden enjoying the pool even before we had it filled.

I don't know if you are like me but I visit a lot of blogs online and am always wondering what the author looks like... since there aren't too many photos of me that I actually like I thought I'd post this one... Megan and I are sitting on the foreshore at Phillip Island (Victoria, Australia) waiting for our fish and chips for dinner.

Hello everyone... remember me? I haven't blogged for ages but I have a really good excuse... we went away for Christmas to spend a couple of weeks with the inlaws on the other side of the country. Now we're home and I've got my nose to the grindstone again!

I have a new year's resolution, of course. It's to be more active on my blog... so look out for some more posts in the future (not just scrapping posts).

I suppose you have all heard the news by now about our store. We are upgrading to a flash new one so we will be closing down on 17th Jan and reopening in February. It's all very exciting... and I can't wait!

I have managed to squeeze in one more kit before we close down. I made this kit to help you take a retrospective look at 2009. It contains various date elements to help...

It's been a long time...

...since I scrapped for fun. When I say fun, I mean that I'm not doing it because I am showing off one of my own kits or any of the other designer's kits.

I have had a crappy day... consisting of a sick husband and a sick child who has thrown up several times and not once actually made it to the toilet to do so.... So, having finally got the sick child in bed (kind of) I treated myself by actually buying a kit because I liked it and creating a layout for no other reason than because I like to scrap...

New Moon

Rose left a comment asking if I'd seen New Moon yet..... stupid question REALLY! Of course I've seen it :)

I am a HUGE fan of the Twilight books and even though I was a bit unsure about the Twilight movie when I first saw it, it eventually grew on me and I actually don't mind it. However, New Moon left me feeling VERY unsatisfied... I can't say that I really disliked it, but I certainly didn't come out of the cinema thinking "WOW that was awesome" (as I did after the latest Star Trek movie).

Have you seen it yet? What did you think? Do you think the film lived up to the hype? Did you cringe at the Breaking Dawn scene or just laugh like I did??

If there is anyone out there who likes the books and hasn't seen the movie yet (I know Vicki is one) my recommendation is NOT to.... stick to the books... they are a million times more enjoyable than the film...
